The Proposed Baltic Fleet Refurbishment Plan.

As regular visitors to the Baltic Fleet may have noticed, the pub has recently had a coat of fresh paint. This is only the start of a major refurbishment schedule which will see (amongst other things), the bar being moved back to where it was in Victorian times. In those times there was an island bar at the centre of the front part of the pub. The pub owner, Simon Holt has the original floor plan of the Baltic Fleet and intends to replicate this as closely as possible. The main entrance will be to the rear of the building.

Eventually the toilets which are currently in the cellar of the building will be removed to the first floor, (there will be disabled facilities on the ground floor too). This will create more space in the cellar to stillage more of our excellent beers and will also allow more room to expand the all important brewery.

The first floor will be available for both eating and drinking. The room will have a relaxed feel to it with comfortable couches and coffee tables- somewhere to chill with the missus or girlfriend perhaps, away from the hubbub of the pub proper. The upper bow room has excellent views of the Salt House Dock and of the Liver Buildings. These rooms will also be available for business meetings (up to fourteen people); please ask for details.

The refurbishment will take place in stages so as not to interfere with the running of the pub unduly. The first of these stages should commence in late January to Mid February 2009.

Will the pub be closed during the refurbishment? We are hoping that we will remain open while refurbishments are ongoing, however, there might be a short period in which the pub may have to close; the dates of any possible closure will be posted on the website in advance in order to avoid any disappointment.
